The Candela VBeam Laser is a Pulsed Dye Laser used for the treatment of redness of the face and neck, rosacea, sun/age spots, face and leg veins, freckles, scars, stretch marks, birthmarks, port wine stains and poikiloderma.
Pulsed Dye Lasers deliver an intense but gentle burst of light into selectively targeted areas of the skin. The light is absorbed by specific blood vessels or melanin-pigmented areas in the dermis depending on the condition being treated.
What does VBeam treat?
VBeam treats benign vascular lesions such as:
- redness and telangiectasias associated with rosacea
- pink or red scars
- port wine stains
- redness of neck from sun damage (poikiloderma)
- leg veins/facial veins
- stretch marks
Is it painful?
The VBeam has a special epidermal cooling system, which sprays a cool mist onto the skin before each laser pulse, increasing patient comfort.
Are there any possible risks or side effects?
The VBeam laser is very popular nationwide because of its reputation for consistent safety and minimal side effects. Some patients may have a bruise (purpura), redness, and swelling at the treatment site. These side effects are usually short-lived and resolve within a few days.
Do I need to do anything before the procedure?
It is advised to avoid the sun before the treatment and during any staged treatment. Patients who are tanned or sunburned will need to reschedule their treatment session. This includes the use of self tanner.
Proper sun protection use is recommended daily before and after your treatments. If you have questions about proper sun protection, please ask us during your consultation or call us before your appointment.
How long does the treatment take?
Treatment time varies depending on the size of the treatment area. A small spot may take five minutes, whereas a full face treatment may take 20-30 minutes or more.
