Vein Removal - Face and Leg
Unsightly spider and varicose veins bother both men and women, but are most likely to occur in women. The cause is not completely known, but heredity is believed to be the most common factor in the development of these veins. Other factors include pregnancy, hormonal changes, weight gain, and lack of exercise. Spider veins are very small thin clusters of dilated blood vessels that have a red or bluish color. They can appear anywhere on the body, but are most commonly found on the face and legs.
Two types of treatments are used at Gardner Dermatology to treat these conditions—sclerotherapy and lasers. Sclerotherapy is a safe and relatively simple procedure. It can be performed in the office with minimal discomfort. A specially developed chemical solution is injected into the affected veins with a very small needle.
Lasers provide safe and effective non-surgical options as well. New, advanced laser treatment allows light energy to be delivered in precise dosages to the targeted vein, with little discomfort. A slight burning or stinging sensation may be experienced. After several treatments of either sclerotherapy or laser therapy, the vessel fades and becomes barely noticeable.
