Razor Bump Treatment

Pseudofolliculitis barbae (razor bumps) is a common condition of a closely shaved area that occurs in people with thick curly hair. The problem results when highly curved hairs grow back into the skin causing inflammation and a foreign body reaction. Over time, this can cause keloidal scarring which looks like hard bumps. Shaving sharpens the ends of the hairs like a spear. The hairs then curve back into the skin causing pseudofolliculitis barbae.

Gardner Dermatology uses the latest technology to treat razor bumps, including Laserscope’s new Lyra-i™ Laser System. The Lyra-i™ Laser System has been FDA cleared for all skin types, for a wide range of skin conditions, including hair removal and the treatment of pseudofolliculitis barbae. In fact, the Lyra-i™ system combines the longest available wavelength with a unique flat beam profile to maximize patient safety and efficacy.

If you’ve tried at-home products and treatments and are still bothered with razor bumps, call Gardner Dermatology for a private consultation. Our medical staff will recommend a treatment plan designed specifically for you.
